Sheetmetal Worker
Sheetmetal Workers cut, shape, join and finish metal to make, repair or maintain metal structures products. They produce metal (ferrous and non-ferrous) sheet products such as ducting, hoods, lightweight structures, sheet assemblies, tanks and containers using tools, welding and thermal cutting equipment and development techniques.
Metal Fabricator Manufacturing Technician
Metal Fabricator Manufacturing Technicians are frontline supervisors, responsible for production organisation and control in the welding area of automotive production. They may also undertake specialist or advanced work in gas metal arc welding and metal fabrication.
Advanced Fabrication Technician (Structural)
Advanced Fabrication Technicians (Structural) apply advanced development, fabrication and welding skills to repair, produce and assemble fabricated components and plant. Fabrications are repaired or produced from engineering drawings or transposed from existing fabrication shapes.
Welder
Welders cut, shape, join and finish metal to make, repair or maintain metal structures and products. They may specialise in welding mild steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminium, copper, brass, diecast metal and magnesium.
Blacksmith
Blacksmiths produce or repair metal articles. They heat metal to the correct temperature in a forge or electric furnace; hammer, punch or cut metal to size and shape; and harden finished articles by heating and cooling.
Aluminium Fabrication Production Worker
Aluminium Fabrication Production Workers produce aluminium products such as aluminium screens, doors and windows. They use a range of hand tools, hand held power tools, mechanical cutters and welding equipment.
Boilermaker
Boilermakers work with heavy gauge metals to manufacture or repair structures and containers that may have to withstand intense pressure. These include ships, boilers and storage tanks as well as frames, plate assemblies, pipe-work and vessels.
